Written by Aaron DeYarmon and Mike Ulery, this opening track sets the tone for the rest of the album. The lyrics, which take inspiration from a southbound bike trip, introduce the album's theme of building on an uncertain foundation--not building sandcastles, but trying to build something solid on a foundation of sand. What we build can't last forever, but that won't stop us from trying and cherishing the time we get to spend together. Driving the lyrics home, the swing rhythm, eerie electric leads, and nostalgic backing vocals showcase the band's blend of influences from country, jazz, and early rock n roll.
